Statement from Supply Chain Canada President & CEO on Proposed U.S. Tariffs

Yesterday’s announcement by the United States administration regarding new tariffs on Canadian exports is concerning for businesses, workers, and communities on both sides of the border. As an association representing supply chain professionals across Canada, we understand the challenges that trade disruptions create for organizations that depend on predictable, efficient, and integrated supply chains.

Canada and the United States have built one of the most interconnected trading relationships in the world. For decades, our supply chains have operated as a shared economic engine, supporting jobs, investment, innovation, and economic growth in both countries.

Today, our focus is on supporting our members. Supply chain professionals have repeatedly demonstrated their resilience in the face of significant challenges, from global pandemics and labour disruptions to geopolitical instability and inflationary pressures. We are problem-solvers, innovators, and leaders who help keep goods moving and businesses operating during times of uncertainty.

Over the coming weeks, Supply Chain Canada will continue to advocate on behalf of the profession, engage with industry partners and stakeholders, and provide our members with timely information, insights, and opportunities to share concerns and best practices. We will work to ensure the voice of Canada’s supply chain community is heard as governments and industry leaders assess the implications of these proposed measures.
