This seminar provides credit for the seminars in the Diploma program.
It is also eligible for 10 Continuous Professional Development/Maintenance Credits.

Purchasing Process and Practice is one of the required courses in the Diploma in Procurement and SCM program. It will be conducted in a webinar format using the GotoWebinar platform. The webinars are not recorded. In this interactive course there is a grade for participation. Paid registrants will be sent a webinar registration link approximately one week before the course starts.

The course introduces participates to the complete purchasing process.  Purchasing concepts and practices are introduced and elaborated during the online seminar sessions.  The evolution of the purchasing profession is examined, from its origins of being an administrative function, to today’s strategic global E-Procurement role.  Purchasing’s collaboration with other departments are examined and its’ contribution to supporting the organization’s goals and policies are examined.

A textbook is required for this course and may be purchased at a vendor, merchant or store of your choice.

Registrations must be received no later than 3 days prior to the start date to allow time for processing confirmation. Attendees will  receive a confirmation email with the specific workshop details, such as room number shortly after registering for the event.

Jolene Rennie
Professor Independent Management Consultant and Instructor

Jolene is a Business Trained leader with proven abilities to formulate creative business solutions that achieve production and corporate goals. She currently runs her own consulting business, specializing in Supply Chain, Project Management and Marketing. Along with her consulting business she is a trainer in Supply Chain, Leadership and Business fields in post-secondary schools, corporate environments and for the SCMA. In addition to being a trainer with post-secondary schools she has also designed new programs and classes. As a corporate trainer she works closely with the company to ensure training is specified to company needs and raises the company standards. Jolene’s career started in her 20’s as a purchasing assistant and evolved through positions in the purchasing department and finally into Supply Chain Manager within the Gas and Oilfield Industry. With a diverse educational background and lengthy career in Supply Chain, Jolene started her own consulting business. In her consulting business she guides companies in proper procedures and functions within a proper functioning Supply Chain. This vast experience and knowledge lead her to teaching a wide curriculum, program development, face-to-face and on-line instruction with learners from novice to expert. In addition to teaching, consulting, she owns and runs a restaurant. Jolene is a strong advocate for education. She holds the SCMA SCMP Designation, has a Diploma in Business Administration, Major in Marketing, from Red Deer College, and a Certificate in Project Management, from Mount Royal University. She has been a coach for the SCMA Ontario SCMP Online Modules since 2015, and also teaches for the Supply Chain Management Diploma Program through SCMA Alberta institute.

FAQ

What is the cancellation policy?

A full refund will be issued on cancellations received in writing at least 10 business days prior to the workshop start date. An administration fee of $150.00 is applicable if notification is received between three and nine days prior to start date. Thereafter no refund will be available. Substitutions and transfer of registrations is permissible when received in writing three business days before the workshop start date. Credits to be used for future offerings are valid for 12 months from the date of initial payment and will expire if not used in that time frame.

What if the course is cancelled?

In the event of a workshop being cancelled or rescheduled, prior notification will be given to registrants by phone or e-mail, with the option of a full refund of registration fees or transfer of registration to another SCMAO offering.
